My dog has a favorite toy…yep he certainly does and even though he has plenty to choose from there’s one special toy he just loves more than the others.
What is this toy you may well ask?
A bouncy ball…not any kind of ball but a bouncy ball. A green bouncy ball…Why a bouncy ball? Because that’s the toy where he gets you involved.
He’s not a big fan of fetch and give…not a fan at all. He prefers to keep hold of it teasing you to snatch and grab. First he’ll drop the ball way out of your reach just to get a sense of your mood for playing.
Then he’ll nudge it closer but still very much on guard. Keeping his long, saliva dripping, dangling tongue on top of the ball for security, again gauging your mood to have some fun with him.
Cunning, very cunning and any slight movement that comes his way sets him off, grabbing his ball and waltzing off. Only to come back and start the routine again until he finally gives you half a chance to rip the ball from his clutches wringing wet from his saliva producing mouth…
I swear my dog comes alive once you make any movement towards his favorite toy, and when he gets a hold of it he doesn’t hold back. I mean he is full on, the most competitive spirit I’ve ever seen.
He would put most highly paid professional athletes, business people or workers to shame…
I kid you not…
Whether I’m chasing him round the furniture inside the house, or bouncing the ball outside or down the park, he is a terrier…
No, actually he’s a British Bulldog, full of beans and energy with a never say die attitude…or never say STOP…wind him up and he’ll go all day.
God forbid if I don’t feel in the mood to play he will nibble at my feet, which he knows I hate or in extreme cases jumps all over me – all 66 pounds/30 kilo’s of him.
The positive is once his through playing he’s ready for a well earned kip something that is more than welcomed by yours truly.
I must admit it’s certainly great exercise for the both of us….
So what’s you dog’s favorite toy?
