Many dog rescuers often encounter not just one dog, but a pack of strays during a rescue operation. Sometimes it’s not immediately apparent that they are dealing with more than one dog. The following story is about a small dog who revealed something to her rescuers.
An organization called the Northeast Animal Rescue in China received a report about a stray dog. The rescuers arrived at the scene, and they saw a female chihuahua. The dog seemed to be in a state of unrest.
The rescuers thought her behavior was strange. It was as if she was trying to tell them something. They suspected that her puppies were nearby.
The rescuers allowed the dog to lead them to a location. They found several puppies inside an empty drain. There were five of them. At first, the rescuers tried to let the mother dog lead her puppies outside. That didn’t work.
The rescuers proceeded to put the mother dog inside a crate. After that, a rescuer named Will went inside the pipe and took the puppies out. After they got all the dogs, Will named them.
The mother dog got the name Sierra. The three female puppies were Holly, Willow, and Magnolia. The male puppies were Alder and Parker. All of them stayed inside the same room at the shelter.
Stories like this one are not so rare. Stray mother dogs can be found everywhere due to a lack of neutering or spaying practices. It’s crucial for rescuers to check the surrounding areas to see if a dog has companions with them. This is especially important for female strays.
If Will and his team took the mother dog without checking the field, this story would have been different. The fact that the rescuers knew how to read the body language of dogs played an essential part in the rescue as well. Check out the recording linked below.
