While taking a stroll in a park in Arkansas, Ryan Fant spotted a Golden Retriever roaming around the park without a collar. Ryan approached the lone pup and started to pet and play with her. When the pup began following him on his way home, he decided to take the pup home with him and named her Lily Mae.
Ryan tried to locate the pup’s original owners, but after a month of no results, he resolved to make Lily Mae an official member of his family. However, as time went by, Ryan noticed that the pup’s tummy was growing bigger and bigger. Concerned, he brought the pup to the vet, who then told him that his pup was pregnant! Not knowing much about caring for a pregnant pup, Ryan reached out to Catie Evers for help.
Catie Evers, Ryan’s friend, has years of experience taking care of dog mamas and puppies, so she was just the right person to assist Lily Mae. When the pup arrived at Catie’s house, Catie said she was surprised at how active the pup was despite her growing belly. The pup would run and jump around as if she wasn’t pregnant. But even with the pups’ overflowing energy, she is charming and would take every opportunity to sit on Catie’s lap.
Catie knew that Lily Mae’s pup would eventually need to look for their forever homes, so she decided to let people know about them before they were born. She arranged to have a maternity photoshoot for Lily Mae. Catie contacted Shauna Kiely, a photographer, and dog rescuer, to help her with the shoot.
During the photoshoot session, Lily Mae was very well behaved and nailed every pose she made. Catie said that it took them only 30 minutes to finish the photo session. Two days after the photoshoot, Lily Mae gave birth to 8 adorable and healthy puppies. Thanks to Ryan and Catie’s teamwork to care for her, Lily Mae and her puppies now have a bright future ahead of them.
Catie said that once all the puppies are weaned, Lily Mae will go back to living with her fur dad. And as for the puppies, they will be ready for adoption through a rescue center named Chip N Snip in Houston. But for now, all that matters to Lily Mae is to be the best mama to her puppies.
